MEET THE ARTIST
Internationally acclaimed
BJ
Mitchell
has painted in oils for many years.
She
studied at the Spiva Art Center in Joplin, Missouri,
the
Kansas City Art Institute, Pierce College in the
San
Fernando Valley and, more recently,
with the late Joyce Hunter of Bear Valley
Springs.
She has exhibited at various venues in
Missouri
and California. Her painting of the Arvin
flowers
hangs in the Tehachapi Public Library.
B.J. holds an MS from the University of
Southern California,
an MBA and PhD from California Coast
University, and is listed
in Who’s
Who in America as well as the
Artists’
Gallery of Who’s
Who in American Art. Her years in public
service include her
current positions as President of the
Tehachapi Performing Arts
Center Foundation, a founding and
current member of the
Tehachapi Community Orchestra, a member of
the Board of
Directors of District 3, California State
Old Time Fiddlers Association,
and a volunteer for the Bear
Valley Police Department.
Most recently, the 11th
Annual Contemporary Art International Online Juried Exhibition (www.UpstreamPeopleGallery.com) selected her works; “Morning at Mourning Cloak Ranch”, “Mountain Flowers” and “Portrait of God” from around 250 entries from various parts of the world. H er life story is told in:
